Arne Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's expected for questions to be asked about his position after another heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in twelve games, representing the team's poorest run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I have got a lot of support from the top,” Slot commented.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and secure a win of course but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I accept my role. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Conversations with The Board

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the team officials, Slot revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and to me and those talks happen but they don’t call me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “In the normal discussions I perceive the belief. However I've not talked to them since this match so far so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Failings and Squad Reaction

Slot lamented familiar shortcomings from his team in their European loss, specifically poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I play for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a spell of this nature with outcomes this poor.”

Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And until that badge is gone, we will always compete.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to its rightful place, prove again what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the top club in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
