Arsenal Host Wolverhampton Wanderers in Pivotal Premier League Clash

The stage is set for a compelling top-flight matchup as league leaders Arsenal entertain rock-bottom Wolverhampton Wanderers to the Emirates Stadium.

Confirmed Sides

Mikel Arteta's side have made a trio of alterations from the side that suffered a 2-1 loss at Aston Villa in their previous outing. The French defender, Viktor Gyökeres and Gabriel Martinelli are all included in the lineup. Martin Ødegaard and the Spanish midfielder drop to the bench, while Riccardo Calafiori is absent. Saliba is back after sitting out five matches due to injury.

Wolves also have made three changes to their starting XI after being skelped 4-1 at home by Manchester United on Monday evening. Matt Doherty, the Brazilian midfielder and the South Korean forward start. Hoever and Jhon Arias are on the substitutes, while Jean‐Ricner Bellegarde is omitted altogether.

Preamble

Welcome! Because, let's be honest …

The table paints a stark story. The hosts sit proudly at the summit of the Premier League, while Wolves occupy the bottom of the division.

… however, even though this will be the 42nd occasion the Premier League leaders have played the team propping up the entire table – winning 30 victories from 41, with seven draws – who are behind two of the four historical shocks? Why, Wolves, that’s who! So while Mikel Arteta will undoubtedly be expecting another victory, Rob Edwards must know that long shots sometimes come off, and you never know. The start is at 8pm GMT. Let's go!

(The remaining last-over-first victories in the modern top-flight era are Oldham’s 1-0 win over United in March 1993, and Spurs – yeah, a surprising one - beating Liverpool in November 2008.)
