Assassin's Creed Reveals Unexpected Attack on Titan Event for Holiday Season

In a unexpected crossover event that breaks conventional predictions, the game developer has announced an digital crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering free bonus story content for Shadows players.

Strange Adventure Disclosed

According to the authorized release, "A mysterious confrontation draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where whispers of prohibited practices and fearsome changes resonate through the darkness." The plot presents a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who tasks the pair with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a hidden group.

The questline centers on "peculiar trials and a fearsome foe" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Familiar Locations and Metamorphoses

The preview features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer concludes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, probably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Items and Extra Material

Players who finish the mission will receive an unique katana alongside multiple items secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Special implements
• Survey Corps vehicle

Newest Free Story Addition

This patch also brings the game's third free story episode, titled "The Enigma." This playful adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature abilities: Naoe reveals a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This marks not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with well-known anime franchises. The series previously showcased a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
